High School of the Dead: Hot Babes and Zombie Whacking!

I've been watching Highschool of the Dead (HOTD) for some time now and I've reached the fifth episode. It's amazing what a bunch of zombies, a lot of violence, and a whopping bunch of fanservice can do.
Little More Dialog in the manga than in the Anime

From the popular manga of the same name, High School of the Dead starts of at the gates of an ordinary High School in Japan when a creepy moaning guy who was walking funny started banging his body on the front gates. The teachers tried to push him away but was bitten. Then the person bitten also bit another person and so and and so forth until the Zombie disease spread throughout the school. The surviving students start to group together and finally they find out that the same thing was happening all over Japan and the World..

Basically it's Resident Evil or Left 4 Dead from the perspective of high school students.

The animation is superb. The colors are so vivid even during the night scenes. Although I think the proportions on the bust area of the female characters were a bit too much. I haven't read the manga yet but I'm guessing that's where they're basing the sizes from.

"Are the Vest too Tight?"

The music is also good. Perfect for the thrill-of-the-moment scenes.

The characters are the common stereo-type.

We have a high IQ tsundere,

2 moe characters,

a beautiful silent type captain of the kendo club,

and a Gun Otaku who's probably one of the most interesting characters I've seen in this anime so far.

It seems Komura, the leader and one of the main characters, will end up with a harem since most of the girls want his attention.

Shido-sensei is also one of the creepiest charaters I've seen in an anime. Kind of like a fusion of Lelouch, Yagami Light, and Ryuk but more creepy.

Overall with 5 episodes in, I'd strongly recommend HOTD to any guy who love his action and fanservice. Hehe! But not just guys. My wife seems to love this series too. So I think It'll be a great to watch this with a date. Judging by the way it's presented, even a non-anime enthusiast will find this series entertaining.  So go ahead, watch HOTD and enjoy all the zombiness and the HUGE ... action scenes. Hehehe!

  1. I lol'd at Gun Otaku. This is one of the better serious animes this season, along with Shi Ki. But one thing annoys me is those those big yellow subs. They're just so obnoxious and ugly. There's other fansubbers, but these guys are usually the first to put out.
